Podcast 275: Breaking the Law with Matt from Law Tigers

This week on our motorcycle podcast we’re joined by Matt from Law Tigers. Law Tigers is a law firm that specializes in motorcycle related cases. We talk to Matt about the first thing you want to do after an accident, and fitting enough, he was able to impart this advice on Harrison who was hit by a car up the street while Matt was there. We also talk about insurance coverage, theft, lane splitting and other controversial topics.
Then we discuss the self driving BMW GS that was in the video we shared earlier this week. Is the man trying to take away our right to ride our bikes under our own control? Or is the man just trying to give us technology that can save lives? Listen to find out our opinions. Lastly we finish with emails and answer a question about if it’s worth salvaging a free bike.
Congrats to Rowdy R, this months winner of the free Twisted Road rental. And also congrats to this month’s Patreon Prize Pack winner, Michael S.

Podcast 274: John Knowles and the Minibike Endurance Race

This week on our motorcycle podcast we are joined by racer Johnny Knowles, who reports on his recent 24hr race on a minibike. It’s a team event, so he didn’t ride the full 24 hrs alone, but he still managed to complete 120 laps per shift which is no easy task.
But first we get some ride reports from the Misfits, including Paul who did ride 24 hours straight, just to be a Misfit for a day.
We also hear from Kat who has renewed her faith in her Ninja 250 with the help of a drill bit to the carb. Then Nak tries to give everyone a lesson in physics, but we’re still not sure he’s right. But he does, so he’ll sleep great tonight.
And finally we read listener emails, one of which brings up the great helmet law debate again.

This week on our motorcycle podcast we’ve got a lot of news to cover, so let’s get into it.
Motus is shutting it’s doors for now, but we hope they can make it work.
Harley has split from Alta, and we’re suspicious that this might be some corporate power move to steal battery tech info from Alta.
Editor Surj Gish from Citybike.com calls in to update us on the changes to City Bike, explain why he’s in a hospital bed, and to launch our new segment called the City Bike Minute.
Bagel gives a report on his ride to Colorado to look at some weird scooters, and Liza gives her report on her first spin in the dirt on the KLR.
Lastly, we finish with listener emails and answer questions.

Podcast 272: Zee Traveler is Living the Moto Life

This week on our motorcycle podcast we are joined by Zee Traveler. She took off on a 1 month motorcycle trip 2 years ago, and found the calling for the moto life. She’s logged 42,000 miles so far, and has big plans to continue traveling. She’s experiencing life the way many of us wish we could, but she’s also made the sacrifices needed to be a nomad. She left her family behind, and has found her place in this bigger moto family.
Next up, we play a new game called “Lets Be Honest”, where we reveal the real cc size of some very common bikes. Then we discuss some big news, including plans for a new trip from Charley and Ewan called Long Way Up, and the new V8 electric bike from Curtiss called the Hera.
Lastly we finish with listener emails.

Podcast 271: The Moto Bay Classic

This week on our motorcycle podcast we ventured up to San Francisco to attend the first annual Moto Bay Classic by Roland Sands Design.
This event was amazing! There was cops vs. hooligans gymkhana, flat track racing, live music stage, art, custom bikes, vendors, food, and an amazing view. Emma and Liza wandered the event looking for good people to interview, and came up with some great ones. We talk to Roland Sands about putting on this event; Gage McAllister and his fast as f**k Alta Redshift; Carlin Dunne about setting records at Pike’s Peak; Trevor Doniak and riding for Zero; Austin Rothbard with a Twistedroad.com update; and some of the police officers about the techniques and training required to do stop to stop turns and control.
We also play a game about pronouncing those words we all say wrong, like Klim and Moto Guzzi. Play along and see how well you do.
Congratulations to our winners this month. Rick DeBellis won the free rental with Twistedroad.com, and Keith Martinson won our Patreon Prize Pack full of swag and tools.

First we hear from Nak, who won this week’s TJ Hooker award by thwarting some criminals from stealing his bike.
Then we hear from Bagel, who just returned from his trip across the country on his Vespa in the Scooter Cannonball Run, and somehow managed to avert death on worn out tires.
Then we hear an interview with author Mike Baron, who wrote a series of books about a bad ass, Harley riding ex-con turned private investigator, who’s living the life many bikers wish they could. Find it on Amazon and Kindle.
Next up we hear from fellow podcast host and biker Matthew Banks, who’s only been riding 6 months, but is heading out on his first cross country moto adventure. We give him as much advice as we can on making it a safe and fun trip.

This week on our motorcycle podcast we celebrate our 5th birthday (insert party noises here). We talk about our origins, and share some of our favorite moments and guests over the years.
Then we premier a new segment called the AMA minute, where we bring to you the latest news from the American Motorcycle Association.

Jocelin explains that it was one of the hardest things she’s done, and Shawn explains that going to the gym in preparation was one of the hardest things he’s done. Lastly, we finish with listener emails and give out some advice.
