Podcast 290: Crash and Scam

This week on our motorcycle podcast we bring to you another crash report. Our own Zee Traveler had a bad spill on the freeway, and her bike was totaled. She’s recovering, but we wanted to discuss gear. We learn from Zee’s crash that just because you’re wearing your gear doesn’t mean you’re protected. We also talk about what happens to your bike when it gets towed away after an accident. Be careful, because this is a whole other area to be scammed in.
We try out a new game where we ask Miss Emma anything at all, and see how well she can answer it. As you might guess, she had in depth knowledge on each and every subject. We finish up with listener emails, and one more crash story. Congratulations to this month’s Patreon Prize Pack winner, James Snell.
With Liza, Kelley, Miss Emma, Douglas, Henry and Naked Jim.

Podcast 289: Good Bad Ideas with special guest Carmen Gentile

This week on our motorcycle podcast we bring to you a whole batch of good bad ideas. First up we talk about our bright idea to rewire the entire garage, and turn our old gas pump into the first DC charger for Zero motorcycles. Then we hear from our guest, journalist and author, Carmen Gentile. He was reporting on the war in Irag and took a rocket propelled grenade to the face. Miraculously he survived. He and a friend, photographer Nish Nalbandian, went back to Iraq and bought a Ural with a sidecar to travel around war torn Mosul.
Next up we continue with the good bad ideas by announcing a new project we’re going to build. Jim has a DR350 with a dead engine, and we decided it’s time to turn it into an electric death bike. With the help of Brandon, Terry and others, we’ve got all the components to make this happen. Then Jim and Liza announce that they have purchased some electric mini bikes for doing stupid stuff on. Good idea or bad idea? Time will tell. Ural has announced that they are going to be releasing an electric version of their side car rig, and we all agree this is actually a good idea. Lastly, we finish with listener emails.
With Liza, Nak, Naked Jim, Bagel, Miss Emma, Michael, Bex, Maruka and Brandon.

Podcast 288: Traumatic Lap Dance

This week on our motorcycle podcast we bring to you one of the most attended d shit shows in a while. We packed them in deep. First we start with what we did today. Not much work got done, but we did have a surprise birthday party for listener Patrick. Unfortunately we can’t afford the good strippers, so Liza did a dildo lap dance instead that is sure to give him cold sweats for weeks. Next up we give away some IMS tickets by calling listeners at home, and asking them a question. We were 6 for 6, so good job to the winners!
We hear from AJ and Jesse, who are two travelers who’ve chosen life on the road with their bikes. How does someone support the lifestyle, and what drives them to it? Listen and find out. Then we hear from Brandon, who’s preparing to race in the Baja 1000, one of the most grueling motorcycle races in the world. Oh yeah, he’s going to do it on a Zero electric motorcycle. AND, he broke his back this year and has 5 vertebrae fused. AND, he’s never ridden on dirt. Is he going to be successful? My money’s on yes.
With Liza, Electric Terry, Lori, Patrick, Nak, Bagel, Miss Emma, Zee, AJ, Jesse, Morgan, Brandon, Naked Jim and Theo.

Podcast 287: Well I Love A Rainy Night

This week on our motorcycle podcast we hear from Mycah who recently completed her first track day. What a long way she’s come from since she was just a pillion. Then we hear from Liza, who bravely (or stupidly) rode 100 miles at night in a rainstorm. We give you some tips and advice to help you when you find yourself in the same position. Next up we hear from Emma who comes clean and tells the story of her crash last week. Her pride was her biggest injury. Liza opens her box of cheap accessories she bought from banggood.com, and the Misfits give them a look over and share their opinions on if it was a good deal or total trash. Then we take a moment to share our stories of parking lot drugs. Yes, this is a thing. Lastly we answer listener emails, and pick a winner for this month’s TwistedRoad.com giveaway.
With Liza, Isaac, Charley, Nak, Bagel, Miss Emma, Mycah, Zee, Henry, Naked Jim and Theo.

Podcast 286: Live To Ride, Ride To Eat

This week on our motorcycle podcast we catch up with the usual goings on in the garage, and we discuss the latest crashes. Then we hear from Zee in this week’s ControverZee. She thinks it’s better to start riding on a bike with less technology, like ABS brakes. What do you think? Next we hear from Liza, who wants to host a Moto Food Tour. Sausage, fried artichokes, oysters, and we should start and end with pie. Who’s in?
Bagel then gives us an update on his 2 favorite things in one package: Vespa + Electric. Lastly we finish with some announcements and answer questions from listener emails.
With Maruka, Liza, Bagel, Nak, Zee, Jim and Theo.

Podcast 285: Dirtbag Challenge 2018

We bring to your our special once a year Dirtbag Challenge show. This event has moved to yet another location, this time in Oakland. The Misfits made their camp, fired up the grill, and fed hungry strangers once again. But not all were strangers. In fact, the Dirtbag has become like a reunion for many. We see old friends, and make new ones every year. Everyone walks the street looking at bikes and starting conversations, usually around the most interesting or collectable bikes. There’s patch wearing clubs, punk bands, burnouts, children and pets, hooligans and smiles everywhere. We look forward to this every year, and can’t wait for the next go round. Thanks for everything you do Poll, you bloody wanker!
And thanks to special guest Tiffany Camhi, for taking the mic and taking charge.

Podcast 284: Dream It Build It with Brake Free Tech

This week on our podcast we come full circle with Brake Free Tech. Alex came to us a few years ago and shared this idea he had. He wanted to build a helmet mounted brake light, to increase visibility and prevent being rear ended. Now, 3-1/2 years later, he’s brought the final product fresh off the line for us to check out. He also talks about the arduous journey he’s been on, taking his idea all the way to the finish line. Was it easy? No way. So take a listen and find out what it takes to make your dream come true. With Liza, Theo, Nak, Naked Jim, Bagel, Miss Emma, Asian Henry, Alex, Calvin, Exotic Henry, and Rebel John.

Podcast 283: Moto Relief Project

This week on our motorcycle podcast we’re joined by Bex and Kelly from the Motorcycle Relief Project. This is an organization that provides relief to veterans and first responders with PTSD and other injuries by taking them on structured and professionally led multi-day motorcycle adventure tours. They even have all women’s tours, and are looking for more participants for 2019.
We also hear from Saunya and Segoline, who recently rode down south to the Babes Ride Out event. But things did not go as smoothly as possible for Segoline, who realized at one of the gas stops, that a crucial part of her motorcycle was missing. But isn’t that one of the highlights of a road trip? When things go wrong, and your friends step up and help you figure out how to solve the problem at hand, and get back on the road safely.
